Delightful gluten-free soft pretzels with a chewy texture and warm, buttery flavor, perfect for sharing with friends and family.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup Warm Water (110°F)
- 2 1/4 tsp Active Dry Yeast
- 1 tbsp Granulated Sugar
- 2 3/4 cups Gluten Free 1-to-1 Baking Flour
- 1 tsp Xanthan Gum
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter, melted
- 1 large Egg, beaten
- 6 cups Water
- 1/4 cup Baking Soda
- 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter, melted (for brushing)
- Coarse Sea Salt (for topping)
Instructions
- Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- Add gluten free flour, xanthan gum, salt, and melted butter to the mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough gently on a floured surface for about 2 minutes. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm spot for 45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 16-inch rope and twist it into a pretzel shape, pressing the ends firmly to seal.
- Bring 6 cups of water and baking soda to a rolling boil. Carefully lower each pretzel into the boiling water for 30 seconds on each side. Then, transfer the pretzels to the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush each pretzel with beaten egg and sprinkle generously with coarse sea salt.
- Bake for 14 to 16 minutes until the pretzels are deep golden brown. Remove from the oven and brush immediately with melted butter. Serve warm with mustard or cheese dip.
