Description

A delicious comfort food that offers the classic taste and texture of chicken fried steak without gluten, making it perfect for those with gluten sensitivities.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin or round steak
  • 1 cup gluten free all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Oil for frying
  • Gravy (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Tenderize the steak by pounding it until it’s about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into serving-sized pieces.
  2. In a shallow bowl, mix gluten free flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together eggs and milk.
  4. Dredge the steak pieces in the flour mixture, then dip them in the egg mixture, and finally coat them in the flour again.
  5. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Fry the coated steak for 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Drain on paper towels and serve with gravy if desired.

Notes

For a crunchier texture, double coat the steak by dipping it in the egg mixture and flour twice. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature; it should read 145°F for medium-rare steak.
