Ingredients

Scale

2 to 3 pounds beef brisket

1 Tablespoon dried thyme leaves

1 Tablespoon paprika

2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper

2 teaspoons salt

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

1 cup water

1 ½ teaspoons liquid smoke flavoring

3 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 bottle (18 ounces) barbecue sauce

Instructions

1. Combine thyme, paprika, black pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and cumin in a bowl.

2. Rub the spice blend all over the brisket.

3. Place brisket in a slow cooker. Add water, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke.

4. Cook on LOW for 8–10 hours until fork tender.

5. Drain most of the liquid. Slather brisket with BBQ sauce.

6. Broil or bake at 425°F for 10 minutes to caramelize.

7. Slice and serve with additional sauce as desired.

Notes

For maximum flavor, refrigerate the cooked brisket overnight before slicing.

Use leftover brisket for sandwiches, rice bowls, or nachos.
