Ingredients

  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp butter (for greasing)
  • Maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Arrange bread slices in the dish, overlapping if needed.
  3. Whisk eggs, milk, molasses, brown sugar, spices, vanilla, and salt in a bowl.
  4. Pour mixture evenly over the bread, pressing down gently to soak.
  5. Cover and refrigerate overnight (at least 8 hours).
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Bake uncovered for 35-45 minutes until golden and set.
  8. Let rest 5 minutes before serving with maple syrup.
