Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
  4. Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, stirring until combined.
  5. Pour half the batter into the pan. Layer with apple slices, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
  6. Spread the remaining batter over the apples. Top with more apple slices.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool before serving.

  • Dust with powdered sugar before serving for extra sweetness.
