Description

Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (1214 lbs)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh rosemary
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh thyme
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh sage
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 4 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 cups chicken or turkey broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Rinse the turkey and pat dry with paper towels.
  3. Mix butter, rosemary, thyme, sage, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  4. Rub the herb butter under the skin and all over the turkey.
  5. Stuff the cavity with lemon, onion, and garlic.
  6. Place the turkey on a rack in a roasting pan and pour broth into the pan.
  7. Roast for about 3-4 hours, basting every 30 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  8. Let rest for 20 minutes before carving.
