Description

Delicious bite-sized tartlets filled with sweet caramelized onions.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Gruyère cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out puff pastry and cut into small rounds.
  3. Press pastry rounds into muffin tin.
  4. Heat butter and oil in a pan.
  5. Add onions, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  6. Cook onions on low heat until caramelized.
  7. Stir in balsamic vinegar.
  8. Spoon onions into pastry shells.
  9. Sprinkle with cheese.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes.

Notes

  • Keep heat low for perfect caramelization.
  • Use sharp cheddar if Gruyère is unavailable.
