Description

A simple and delicious caramelized onion tart perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 cup grated Gruyère cheese
  • 1 tsp thyme leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add onions, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Cook until golden brown, about 20 minutes.
  3. Stir in balsamic vinegar and cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Roll out puff pastry and place on a baking sheet.
  6. Spread caramelized onions evenly over the pastry.
  7. Sprinkle cheese and thyme on top.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and crisp.
  9. Let cool slightly before slicing.
